As a current KCSA Board Member, I would like to ask for your support for re-election at the forthcoming KCSA Board of Directors annual meeting scheduled for September 13, 2021.
I am an energetic and experienced non-profit professional with over 20 years of accounting, operations, and administration experience. I work from my home office as the Executive Director of the Virginia Turfgrass Foundation and I am involved in the overall Williamsburg community as a Rotarian, PTA mom and more. My husband (Mike) and I moved to Kingsmill in 2013 from Northern California. We are an active family with two girls, Reagan (9) and Morgan (7), and love the Kingsmill lifestyle, which keeps us busy and very active in the community.
My major goals, if you retain me as your board representative, are to implement positive change and enhance the Kingsmill lifestyle and culture. Some examples of my recent work include:
· Immersed myself deeply into the community since we moved here, serving on KCSA committees including Lifestyles and Communications; accepted club leadership and active participation in Kingsmill playgroup, Kingsmill Athletics, and KWSC; and created animplemented neighborhood events including the Cardboard Boat Regatta (scheduled August 28, 2021), the Kingsmill Plantation Campout (coming October 2021), the Kingsmill Athletics Soccer teams in partnership with the WISC, and Kingsmill Bowling events at AMF.
· Helping the board execute the Kingsmill Master Plan. Implementing our Master Plan is going to have a major positive impact on our home values, lifestyle, and our overall community attitude. It is an exciting time for Kingsmill and I’d like to remain involved to ensure that all Kingsmill demographics have a supportive voice when the board votes on future projects.
· As Communications Committee chair, I am continually improving our community communications. I helped implement our website, updated our welcome packet for new neighbors, and currently helping redesign our main communication tool—the KCSA Bulletin. There have been many successes within our communications team, but we have so much more to do. I am excited to continue working with the amazing volunteers and staff to keep conversations and transparency moving forward.
Overall, Kingsmill is an amazing and unique community that we all call home. I would like to ask for your vote in September to continue as your KCSA Board Representative. As an elected steward, I will stay focused and work enthusiastically to keep our community special—continuing to bring clarity to our present situation, and collaborating with you on the vision of where we want to go.
Thank you in advance for your support!

I am seeking your support for re-election to the Board of Directors. My objectives are to:
- Work to improve Kingsmill quality of life and maintain property values
- Hold fees in check by developing 5-year budgets and execution of spending plans to improve performance outcomes
- Continue to increase transparency in HOA activities, transactions and operations
- Support initiatives developed from the KCSA Master Planning process
- Link Master Plan initiatives to budget year execution
- Act to overcome the effects of aging infrastructure and obsolete designs
- Enhance the collaborative approach between the resident volunteers, the HOA staff and the police department
- Keep working to improve Kingsmill as an exceptional place to live and work
- Support the many long-time, loyal KCSA employees and police officers who proudly work here and who strive to maintain our quality of life and security in Kingsmill
- Promote an inclusive community lifestyle that encompasses the needs of our changing population demographics
- Elevate the community spirit between the resort and Kingsmill residents
- Preserve green space and its utilization
I have served 8 years on the KCSA Board (5 years as Treasurer) and a member/Chair of the Budget and Finance Committee since 2008. Under my financial leadership, the quality of life in Kingsmill has continued to improve while the Association successfully achieved financial security, holding annual dues increases to no more than the Consumer Price Index (CPI) with no special assessments. I served 3 years on my Parcel Advisory Committee.
I want to take an active role in community affairs and embrace the Rotary International motto “Service Above Self.” I believe Kingsmill is an exceptional place to live with a great mix of families. We enjoy living here in this neighborly, small-town environment and are often reminded how much other residents also love it here when we see others, like ourselves, move multiple times within Kingsmill as their needs change and entice their extended families to move to Kingsmill as well.
My professional experience includes working in large national public utility associations, as well as effectively leading large teams in government and corporate environments. Prior to working as a CPA for 10 years in private industry, I completed 30 years’ service in the U.S. Air Force, retiring at the rank of Colonel. I am an active Rotarian and past president of the James City County Rotary Club.
My wife, Neva, and I have been residents of Kingsmill since 1987. Although our military assignments directed us elsewhere from 1991 to 2002, we returned to our home in Burwell’s Glen and have been fulltime Kingsmill residents since. We moved for the third time in Kingsmill to our current home in River’s Edge.
Education: Master’s in Business Administration, Auburn University Bachelor of Science in Accounting, College of Idaho
Professional Certification: Certified Public Accountant
I would appreciate your vote to re-elect me to the KCSA Board of Directors.

This statement is written with full intention of service to the Kingsmill residents.
My intention for the past 40 years in healthcare has been to be of service to the people I represent. I believe I should spend my time servicing my family, my employer and my community.
My positions held throughout the years are detailed on my resume', which I would make available to anyone who wishes to review it. My positions held have varied from mother, Army Officer, Director of Operations, Registered Nurse, Council Member, Advisory Board, and Business Owner. I have held all positions with great honor to have been given the opportunity to work with and for the people. I enjoy being a leader and follower. I listen and defer to the expert. I research and seek accuracy and process. I work for quality and continuous improvement.
I have been in positions of leadership the majority of my career. I spent 2009-2017 with Liberty Dialysis in Hawaii as the Director of Operations. I worked with an amazing team of people and together we rebuilt dialysis clinics throughout the Islands. We developed a company that was purchased as the highest sold dialysis company in current history for one Billion dollars. The quality measurements and profit margins were exceptional. This was accomplished by listening, guiding, monitoring and executing with excellence and people set as the priority. Hawaii Islands were blessed with state of the art dialysis clinics, staffed with excellence and built to look like homes in their community so they would blend in. Feel free to look on line for Hilo dialysis clinic on Big Island Hawaii to see one of these facilities.
I look forward to studying the rules and regulations (covenants) and needs of the Kingsmill community. I hope to support the community to bring back the status of the 1990’s and 2000's that I hear the residents communicating regarding their feelings during those years.
Sincerely Considered,
Sheila Nicholas-Smith
